UNBROKEN University Opens Its School of Medicine in Lviv

UNBROKEN University has officially opened its School of Medicine — a modern educational hub dedicated to advancing medical education, research, and clinical practice. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the U.S.-based humanitarian organization Direct Relief, including its CEO, Amy Weaver.

Guests toured the new learning facilities, learned more about the School of Medicine’s activities, and met with physicians, faculty members, and training participants. To commemorate the occasion, a magnolia tree was planted in the courtyard of the new building.

“We see in Lviv and at UNBROKEN University a potential center of excellence. Investing here means investing in the future of medicine and in the development of a healthcare system that the world may one day look to as a model. UNBROKEN and Lviv hold a special place in our hearts,” said Amy Weaver, CEO of Direct Relief.

The School of Medicine at UNBROKEN University is a non-profit educational and professional medical institution operating in partnership with the First Lviv Territorial Medical Union and the UNBROKEN Center. Its core mission is to support continuous professional development, specialization, and lifelong learning for healthcare professionals.

The School currently hosts a Simulation Training Center and a Research and Innovation Center, where clinical scenarios are practiced, new approaches are tested, and evidence-based medical solutions are developed.

The new educational facility was made possible through the support of Direct Relief, which provided funding for the purchase of the five-story building that now houses the School of Medicine.

Direct Relief is currently the largest philanthropic supporter of Ukraine’s healthcare sector. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the organization has delivered more than 3,000 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies to Ukraine, with a total value exceeding USD 2.3 billion. It is also one of the most significant international partners of the First Lviv Territorial Medical Union.
